Every year the Texas hill country comes alive with purple, green and gold as the town transforms to celebrate Mardi Gras – “cowboy style”. The country folks, and yes, even some of those city folks, get out the beads, masks, feathers and the diamonds patterned shirts and head for Bandera.
We decorate our horses, our dogs, our golf carts, trucks, motorcycles, wagons and just about anything else you can drive, ride, drag or tow down Main street.
The hurricanes are flowing and the gumbo is hot and everywhere you go you can listen to good old cajun music mixed with a little country swing. It’s a festival you really don’t want to miss.
