Hotel Bauer Palladio

November 9 and 10, 2011 – In Venice

The cruise line makes arrangements for everyone to travel in the day before the cruise begins and then put you up in a hotel the night before the cruise.  This allows for the unexpected travel delays, and ensures that all cruise guests are ready to embark the ship together and on-time.

There are actually several Bauer hotels, one on the Venice side where we will dock tomorrow for our first stroll around Venice and the one we stayed at over on the Island of Giudecca, just a 10 minute boat ride to the other side.  Our hotel was an old cloister from the sixteenth-century designed by the greatest Renaissance architect, Andrea Palladio.

Here are a few images of the lobby, the dining area where we had our evening meal, and the grounds.
