The Melk Abby

Thursday, May 12, 2011 – The Melk Abby

We docked at Melk and boarded a motor coach to the Melk Abby.

Melk Abbey or Stift Melk[1] is an Austrian Benedictine abbey, and one of the world’s most famous monastic sites. It is located above the town of Melk on a rocky outcrop overlooking the river Danube in Lower Austria, adjoining the Wachau valley.

I didn’t have the low light lens with me, so some of these shots are a bit grainy…  I shot the inside in RAW and was able to recover some of the details.  Not the best photographic images but…  oh well..  these are vacation shots.. not a photo contest 🙂   Hope you enjoy them!

There are a couple of panoramics at the bottom of the gallery
