Friday – March 25, 2011 – Train to Aguas Calientes and back on Saturday March 26, 2011
We are finally heading to Machu Picchu. We boarded a train in Ollantaytambo and are on the way to Aguas Calientes. (we will return the same route tomorrow so I combined the images of both trips on the train)
Aguas Calientes is a very small town on the Urubamba River in Peru. Aguas Calientes is located in the district of Machu Picchu, province of Urubamba, department of Cusco. It is located at the western spring of the Vilcanota Mountains, bounded by the Apurimac and Urubamba rivers. It’s Altitude is: 7,920 feet above sea level, and it’s average temperature is 55ºF/13ºC.
The clown and the few images with the sun setting on the mountains are from the Saturday return trip.
