THE LAST STAND
Portrait of a flamingo from the San Antonio Zoo. I used NIK Color Efex Pro, Detail Extractions and Pro Contrast, did a slight painting with Topaz and also added a bit of the oil paint filter. I used a High Pass filter to add back some of the detail. I also added a color LUT to really pop the orange and pinks for final color grading.
I selected the greens and blues for the background based on the Adobe Color Wheel program where you can select a color from your image and then use the color rules to find the triad or complementary colors. Forest or mossy greens and silver blues were on the palette so I combined a few colors in various blend modes with a nice rustic texture to create background for the image.
