Updating El Toro Rojo

We are getting our 1967 Corvette repainted.  Not because we wanted to, but because Bambi made it necessary.  On the way to a car show in April at about 5:30 am, the deer decided to jump out in front of the car on Hwy 46 while hubby was travelling at at least 55 mph.  Well… corvettes and deer don’t mix well at that speed!

After restoration and a complete paint spray, we should be getting the car back within the next month, ready for the fall car shows!  As such, I will need to rebuild the car display board for this car.

A few years ago when we purchased the car, which was painted the wrong color of maroon, we named it El Toro Rojo and I designed a logo for the car.  I then built my car display board.  With a new paint spray  (the correct 1967 color) I decided to update the logo before getting pictures and building a new board.

Here is the old poster and the old logo.

With the new smoothing feature in Photoshop, I am now able to draw my lines with much more control. (see closeups below).  I’ve also learned many more painting techniques since the first design, so the new bull has fur painted over the head and ears, a texture on the horns and inside the ears and on the nose.  I changed the nose ring a bit as the first one was low resolution and blurry.  I just added the C2 flags to this one.

Can’t wait to see the car and get some images to begin designing a new board.
