Using Gradient Maps to Build Additional Backgrounds

Yesterday we built a background image with the mixer brush from an single image.  Here’ are a few additional ones I built with just a few hours playing with the mixer brushes.  Some are very vivid and bright and I probably wouldn’t use them directly, but, they have loads of texture and a variety of luminosity changes which make them perfect for backgrounds.

We can now put various gradient maps over the top of these backgrounds and modify the entire color palette to built out a library of colors we can use, such as browns, greens, tans and other earth tones or various cool colors such as blues and violets.  The possibilities are limitless with gradient maps.

Maybe a topic for our next video!
