Ensenada Mexico

Today we would stop at Ensenada Mexico, not too far from our final departure port of San Diego.  It’s raining and a bit windy today, not the expected weather for this area.  Our plans are to take a coach to La Bufadora, their “blow hole” and then return to a presentation of local folk dance and music.

The shopping opportunity at La Bufadora were great, but as usual, these excursions never plan adequate time for you to really shop or photograph the area.  Everything has to be rushed in order to get back on the coach and drive another hour or so back to the ship.  It’s the main reason that I really like the river cruising over the ocean cruising.  At least with the river cruises, you pull into the town and you get off the boat and have several hours to enjoy the town.  With ocean cruises, it’s hurry up excursions that really don’t give you much time to see and do… it’s just a taste of the area and then you’re back on the ship heading to the next port.

At the blow hole, I took several images in a sequence as the water was exploding.  If you go to my Flickr site to the La Bufadora album and pick one of the images at a the beginning of a sequence that looks similar and then scroll quickly through the images, you can almost get a visual of what the blow hole looked liked.  Sort of like the old time flicker movies.

After the blow hole we did a little shopping, got rained on, slopped through the mud and then found our way back to our coach for the ride back to Ensenada to the Folk Fiesta.
