I’ve been testing out some watercolor techniques over the past couple of days, but I also like to do oil or acrylic painting. I use a clone painting technique with the mixer brush. This article is about these new brushes. Actually not new, just new to me… and really just the second set. I already own and use the first set of Eldar Zakirov brushes. Last night I purchased his second set, The Perfect Oils. Part 2 and wanted to try a couple of them today. Here is the link to the place I purchased his brushes. I have purchased brushes from both Cubebrush and Creative Market in the past and generally pay with paypal. It’s easy. They just send you a link to download the brushes.
I haven’t had time to test all of them yet. I like to take an image and test each brush to see what the brush stroke looks like. I actually have a notebook where I print the image and label the brushes and the stroke so that I have some idea about what the actual stroke looks like on an image. It’s too hard to look at the marketing material and really get an idea of what the brush will do. So I paint with it and save the document so I can see each brush in action. I will do that with this set and add them to my book.
But for now, just a test to see what a couple of them will do.
Here is a flower that I captured while in Jackson Hole in July. I used two brushes, one for the flower and a different one for the background. I also used a brush for the under-painting that I already owned. I only used an under-paint and intermediate layer on this one. Basically the entire image was painted on one layer.
