Reprocessing Old Images

I’ve started to reprocess images from trips I took 10 years ago. Cameras weren’t nearly as good as they are today, but the post processing capabilities are light years more advanced. And, my skill in using these tools is definitely better today than it was in 2011 when I took some of these trips.

I’ve decided to put a standard look to my Venice images so I built a LUT (color lookup) in photoshop and converted it to a Lightroom profile. Then I can apply this same base color profile to all the images before beginning my processing. Some images use the profile at almost 100%, some at 60%, but they all start with the same base color temp and color profile. Then I make my local adjustment and enhance the sunlight etc.

Here are three examples of before and after.

I will probably end up building a separate profile for other countries we visited as the one for Venice is very vivid and warm. Either way, each folder of images or location will have a unique look and feel and color profile.
